My Gateway NV78 Laptop keeps shutting down?

My Laptop Keeps shutting down after maybe half an hour of use. It turns off without warning and takes quite sometime to get it back online. It does this randomly repeated times when I use it. Sometimes I will use it all day and not have a problem. I believe it's a virus but anyone have similar problems or ideas what it could be???

Are you sure your laptop is not overheating? Perhaps the days where you use it a lot are days where the weather is cooler or perhaps you have more air accessible to the laptop. Make sure the vents are not being blocked, and the fans are clean of dust. If you do that, then you can ensure it doesn't overheat, therefore shutting itself off.
